Opportunity:

New Orleans College Prep is searching for a full time Substitute Teacher for their Elementary School for the 2019 - 2020 school year. As a substitute teacher you will be expected to establish and maintain high expectations and promote a culture of achievement and student learning.

Background:

New Orleans College Prep’s (NOCP) mission is to prepare students with academic and life skills for success in college, career, and beyond. Over the past ten years, NOCP has grown from a single grade of 100 students, to now operating 3 charter schools spanning grades PK-12, serving over 1,400 students on 3 campuses. NOCP is serving its part in a broader city-wide vision to make New Orleans the first 100% high-performing urban school system in our nation’s history.

Responsibilities:

  • Design direct and indirect classroom instruction using research-based strategies

  • Assist with implementing developmentally appropriate lesson plans.

  • Develop a connection with children of all ages, families, and fellow teachers.

  • Assist with data analysis data from multiple sources to drive instruction and inform both short term and long term instructional decisions

  • Strategize with teachers and parents about best practices for supporting struggling students

  • Maintain school culture of high behavioral expectations

  • Maintain frequent communication with student families

Experience and Skills:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree (required)

  • 1-2 years Teaching experience (preferred)

  • Teacher certification (preferred) or certification eligible.

  • Spanish speaking (preferred)

  • Constant learner: Solicits feedback and implements new ideas in instruction, stays abreast of current research on teaching and learning, enhances professional skills
