Job Description:

New Orleans College Prep is searching for an Executive Director of John W. Hoffman Early Learning Center. The Executive Director is responsible for ensuring our Center’s program performance is high-quality, and cultivating an environment that enables our team to achieve our mission of preparing young children for kindergarten. This person will oversee all aspects of program culture, structure and operations, personnel performance management and professional development, state and federal compliance, and community partnerships with Hoffman Early Learning Center.

About John W. Hoffman Early Learning Center

John W. Hoffman Early Learning Center ("the Center") is a Type III licensed child care facility of excellence that prepares children for kindergarten and life through a high-quality and enriching educational program. Our early learning center is diverse by design, with children and families from varying socio-economic, racial and ethnic backgrounds. We currently serves approximately 145 children ages 6 weeks to four years old with plans to expand to 235.

The mission of the Center is to prepare children with the academic and life skills for success in college, career and beyond. For our young infants through preschoolers, this means being prepared for kindergarten. We do this by building strong social and emotional foundations for academic scholarship. We model positive, respectful, and collaborative interactions that honor young children’s unique strengths, individuality, and diversity.   • Ensure the Center’s mission, vision, culture and values are promoted within the community and integrated throughout the program structure, policies and procedures with all stakeholders

  • Drive outcomes toward a strategic plan and vision, setting benchmarks and measuring progress toward those goals

  • Manage external relations, including but not limited to, CMO partners, NOEEN, private and public funders

  • Ensure compliance with all Head Start Performance Standards, Federal and Louisiana State Child Care Licensing requirements including but not limited to

    • Programmatic Compliance

    • Personnel/Staffing Compliance

    • Academic/Learning Standards & Performance

  • Supervise the school’s administrative, teaching and support staff and evaluate staff in accordance with the current network performance management tools and processes

  • Manage student enrollment procedures and implement strategies to promote positive and sustainable student enrollment

  • Ensure effective personnel management and account for their attendance communication and conduct all program planning and professional development

  • Develop and maintain the Center’s organizational structure and infrastructure to support and sustain growth

  • Work with the Chief Financial Officer to ensure financial health and maintain fiscal responsibility

  • Represent the Center at external public meetings and presentations

  • Manage the Center’s classroom staff to ensure full supervision of children during daily operations

  • Ensure developmentally appropriate curriculum and child assessments are being implemented with fidelity in all classrooms

  • Lead classroom staff in regular analysis of data gathered through child observations and guide their usage of such information towards individualized care and/or differentiated instruction

  • Support classroom staff in obtaining and sustaining early childhood teaching certification

  • Plan and coordinate pre-service and professional development training sessions for all staff

  • Establish and maintain the following professional certifications/credentials:

  • Inter-rater Reliability in Teaching Strategies GOLD

  • CLASS Observation Certification (Toddler and PreK)

  • Louisiana Pathways Training Certification

  • National Administrator Credential

  • Serve as the NOCP representative of the Center during licensing inspections, and at various gatherings, conferences and meetings, as needed or requested and assign a "Director Designee" to serve in that capacity during the absence of the Executive Director

  • Treat all children, families and staff in a courteous, friendly, and professional manner

  • Reports directly to the CEO

  • Other duties as requested by the CEO

Experience and Skills:


  • Ancillary Certification in Early Childhood Education, or certification eligible

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood or a related field required

  • Masters degree highly preferred

  • 3-5 years of leadership experience in early education

  • Working knowledge of TS Gold, Creative Curriculum, CLASS, Louisiana’s Birth to Five Early Learning and Developmental Standards, and Head Start Performance Standards

  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills

  • Ability to build relationships and foster partnerships in the community

  • Innovative - has the ability to identify areas of opportunity and seek creative solutions

  • Strong commitment to the diverse by design philosophy/model
