We are searching for a Facility Team Lead for our Elementary school. The Facilities Team Leader is responsible for assuring that a safe, orderly, and pleasant environment is provided for visitors and employees. Responsibilities include but are not limited to day to day maintenance of the building, equipment, and grounds including security systems; overseeing facilities refurbishment and renovations; and training, and supervising a small custodial staff. The candidate must be a resourceful problem solver and an excellent communicator with practical experience in maintenance, repair and custodial management.


  • Frequent and regular inspections of school facility to ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards established by the charter management group

  • Manage the Custodial clean team to insure a high quality of appearance and overall cleanliness of the Facility.

  • Troubleshooting of facilities maintenance and repairs in the following areas

    • Plumbing

    • Electrical

    • Carpentry and general maintenance

    • Playground equipment

    • Grounds

    • Refuse Removal

    • HVAC

  • Maintenance of Service Logs on equipment and facilities to include

    • Pest Control

    • Food Service Equipment

    • Grease Traps

    • Elevators

    • Fire Safety Equipment

    • Security Alarms

  • Serve as the first point of contact for

    • Facilities Concerns

    • State and local inspections

    • Fire alarms monitoring (Life Safety)

  • Coordination of Routine Repairs and contact with school vendors

  • Perform other tasks and/or duties as designated by the Principal or Director of Operations and Facilities

Experience and Skills:


  1. Knowledge of facilities and maintenance equipment including but not limited to electrical, mechanical and HVAC systems

  2. Knowledge of site control and security systems

  3. Skills in project management

  4. Skills in demonstrated leadership

  5. Skills and abilities in organization, time management, and record keeping.

  6. Ability to read and comprehend complex electrical, mechanical and automation systems

  7. Ability to effectively address and meet a wide range of facility repair and maintenance needs for the site

  8. Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with other professionals in a team setting

  9. Ability to interact positively and effectively with students, staff, and administrators

  10. Ability to maintain confidentiality


  1. Minimum: 3 years facilities experience, preferably within the education industry

  2. Preferred: 645 Louisiana (New Orleans) Third Class Stationary Air Conditioning

  3. Prior experience successfully managing a team

  4. Satisfactory criminal history review


Ability to stand, walk, and sit frequently or for prolonged periods of time. Additional physical abilities include lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling, stooping/crouching, reaching/handling/fingering, talking/hearing conversations, and near/far visual acuity/depth perception/color vision/field of vision. Ability to perform work inside and outside the property with occasional exposure to inclement weather. Regular exposure to sunlight and dust. Ability to climb ladders, and up and down stairs.
