Job Description:

 

Walter L. Cohen College Prep is searching for Special Education Teachers for the 2019 - 2020 school year. These individuals are expected to provide an educational atmosphere where scholars of various academic levels can develop a strong understanding and appreciation for the subject matter. Special Education Teacher candidates should be comfortable providing high quality instruction to scholars with a variety of exceptionalities including (but not limited to) Autism, Specific Learning Disabilities, ADHD, Down Syndrome, Traumatic Brain Injury, etc.

  • Design classroom instruction using research-based strategies
  • Frequently analyze results from multiple sources to drive instruction
  • Work with students to remediate gaps
  • Maintain school culture of high behavioral expectations
  • Maintain frequent communication with student families

 

Experience and Skills:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Teacher Certification or certification eligible
  • Solutions-Oriented: concentrates on finding ways to solve problems and improve systems
  • Work ethic: possesses a strong willingness to work hard and long hours to get the job done
  • Intelligence: learns quickly, demonstrates ability to quickly and proficiently absorb new information
  • Teamwork: Demonstrated ability to work well in a team
  • Experience working in urban schools (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Design classroom instruction using research-based strategies
  • Execute research-based programs according to best practices
  • Frequently analyze results from multiple sources to drive instruction
  • Work with small groups of students to remediate gaps
  • Strategize with teachers about best practices for supporting struggling students
  • Maintain school culture of high behavioral expectations
  • Maintain frequent communication with student families

Compensation:

We offer a competitive compensation package, including generous retirement contributions and comprehensive health benefits. The base salary for this position is $43,500.
